Rewrites: NONE YET

Our next Eaglemoss vs. The World review is going to focus on the Talarian Freighter named Batris.

We first get to see this starship in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode called "Heart of Glory".

Per Memory Alpha and Beta, "The Batris was a Talarian freighter that was in service in the mid-24th century.  In 2364, the Batris was commandeered by three renegade Klingons led by Commander Korris. The ship was tracked down in the Neutral Zone by the cruiser IKS T'Acog. After a brief battle, the renegades agreed to surrender, but when the T'Acog dropped its shields they opened fire with the merculite rockets that comprised the Batris' armament. The T'Acog was destroyed, but the Batris was heavily damaged."

I can sum up my initial reactions to this model simply with the word, "Wow".  Where do we begin with this model?

Let us start with the paint work.  From a distance, the model looks sort of plain, but when you come in for a closer look, you find that the paint work is very busy.  The red striping on the nose of the vessel is the first thing that grabs your attention.

Windows have been painted yellow and there are plenty of them which help give you a sense of size of the ship.  Better yet, the painted windows seem to align well with the molded window details.

The rest of the ship's body is covered with a light tan, and is broken up by small grey mechanical area as well as what appears to be some weathering paint work.  In the end, you definitely can tell that this ship is heavily used.

The engine exhausts are also painted and allows them to stand out from the rest of the paint work.

The sculpt and mold work is equally impressive across the model.  The tactile details are crisp and help accentuate the painted details.

The molded details show all sorts of panel lines.  On the central part of the ship, these details help with the visualization of the cargo hold and give you a feeling of compartmentalization.

The front and back area of the cargo area bear all sorts of other machinery details that were molded in.  Those details carry on down along the bottom of the engineering section.

The earlier mentioned engine exhausts are also well molded and you have no problems discerning what it is you are looking at.

This Eaglemoss model bears no clear plastic parts, but given the amount of paint work, I'm really not sure that they would have needed any, nor do I know where they could have put those sorts of details.

The join seams are almost invisible.  They blend perfectly with the natural lines of the ship.

And that is all the pictures and comparisons I have to share on this ship at this time.  As for pricing, I will continue with the tradition of rounding up the most inexpensive Buy-It-Now prices from eBay at the time of this article's writing.  Prices were researched last on June 1st, 2020.  As of the writing of this article, you can get the model on eBay for around $27 (shipping included).  You can also currently order the Eaglemoss model right from the company's US WebStore for around $25 (shipping unknown).

If you like collecting alien ships from Star Trek, then I have to tell you, for the price, you are getting one heck of a cool looking model.  Even if alien ships are not your thing, I strongly suggest that you consider this model.  In my opinion. Eaglemoss knocked it out of the park on this one.  Sure, it is not some glorious combat vessel, or flashy Starfleet starship, but the model has lots of charms to make it worthwhile addition to your collection.

As always, I hope you found this article useful and informative.  If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please feel free to comment below.

So for now, "Live long and prosper!!!"
