Resin Kit Review: Cozmo Heavy Industries 1:2500 Klingon Korz Class Trasnport

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

WOW!  It has been quite a while since I've done a resin kit review.  For this one, I'm returning to one of my favorite kit makers, Cozmo Heavy Industries, and his 1:2500 scale Klingon Korz Class cargo transport.

Resin Kit Review: SciFi4Real 1:2500 Phase II Refit Nacelles

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

This is going to be a bit of a different kind of kit review.  This particular review won't be about an entire model, but rather about parts that can make it MUCH easier to build a certain type of ship that never made it to the screen.

Editor's Note: I have sadly confirmed with the garage kit maker that at the time of this article's re-writing (March 3rd, 2018), that he is no longer producing this item.

Resin Kit Review: Resin Modeler 1:1400 NX Refit Class

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

It's been a while since I wrote a resin kit review, but this one has me all excited, and has been a long time coming.  I am of course talking about the 1:1400 scale NX Refit by Resin Modeller.

Resin Modeller's Recommended Paint Scheme

The first thing you should know, is that this is actually two separate kits.  Resin Modeller makes a 1:1400 NX kit and then you need to purchase the separate add-on kit that comes with additional parts.  I liked this concept as it made the build options much more flexible.

So in essence, you are getting technically two reviews for the price of one.  One for the NX kit, and one for the Refit Add-On kit.  :-)

Resin Kit Review: Resin Modeler 1:1400 Earth Colony Ship (Discovery Class)

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

Rewrites: July 2020 & May 2016

[Editor's Note (July 2020): This will mark my third update of this article.  Now that I've written a bunch of articles, I feel like I've developed a certain style and flow to them and I wanted to make all of them have that same feel across the series.  Consider this the REFIT version of the original article.]

I'm going to shift gears slightly and go back to a Resin Modeler kit.  This one is his 1:1400 Earth Colony Ship.

Resin Modeller's Recommended Paint Scheme

This ship never appeared on screen but was mentioned in an early episode of Star Trek: Enterprise when they went to investigate an old Earth colony.  The SS Conestoga was the ship that had delivered the colony and was then dismantled for it's materials to make the colony.

Resin Kit Review: Cozmo Heavy Industries 1:2500 Pre-TOS Adversary Set

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

The next resin kit that I'm going to review is another one of Cozmo Heavy Industries' revived line of kits.  The 1:2500 Pre-TOS Adversary set is unique in that it gives you three different ships.  The kit includes a Federation Daedalus class, a Romulan ship and and a Klingon ship.

C.H.I.'s eBay Advertisement

The kit itself is reminiscent of the AMT Round 2 sets that contain three ships.

So, if you have bought and built any of these kits, then this set from C.H.I. will blend in well with your collection.

Resin Kit Review: Cozmo Heavy Industries 1:2500 Declaration Class

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

This next kit that I'm reviewing excited me when I learned that Cozmo Heavy Industries was starting production up again on it.  The 1:2500 scale Declaration class is a very unique ship that any die hard Trekkie should recognize.

C.H.I.'s eBay Advertisement

The Declaration class was first seen in the form of a painting on the wall of the recreation deck of the refit Enterprise in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.  It has since appeared a couple of other times in the forms of paintings and models in the other Star Trek shows and movies.  Officially, there is not much known about this ship.  It has been described as a starliner which has been incorrectly assumed to be a passenger ship.  The reality is, starliner is a generic term for starships.  There was a series of small books called the "Federation Spaceflight Chronology" and in the first volume, the class of ship described in much more detail.

Resin Kit Review: Cozmo Heavy Industries 1:2500 Hornet Class

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

[Editor's Note (May 2016): This will mark my second re-write of this article.  Now that I've written a bunch of articles, I feel like I've developed a certain style and flow to them and I wanted to make all of them have that same feel across the series.  Consider this the REFIT version of the original article.]

My next resin kit review is going to focus on a fun little build that I did.  this build also marked a first for me.  Cozmo Heavy Industries Hornet Class shuttle carrier in 1:2500 scale is a very unique looking ship.

It took me three different attempts to win one of these on eBay.  They are a rather popular model kit from C.H.I.

Resin Kit Review: Resin Modeler 1:1400 Borg Probe ("Coffin" Ship)

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

Rewrites: May 2016 & August 2018

For my next review, I'd like to focus on Resin Modeller's 1:1400 scale Borg Probe ship which has also been called the "Coffin Ship" because of it's shape.

Resin Modeller's Recommended Paint Scheme

This ship appears in the Star Trek Voyager episode called "Dark Frontier".  It also supposedly is in the The Next Generation Episode called "I, Borg", however, it is totaled on the planet so we don't see much of it.

Resin Kit Review: Resin Modeler 1::2500 Challenger Class (Non-Cannon)

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

In this review, I want to take a good close look at Resin Modeller's 1:2500 scale Contender Class.

Resin Modeller's Recommended Paint Scheme

This is one of those more unique starships that are harder to find information on.  From the reading I have done, it is called a Challenger Class (Non-Cannon) ship although Adam at Resin Modeller has it listed as a Contender.  Since it's a non-canon ship, there is no real answer, however, since they list it on Memory Beta as a Challenger Class (Non-Cannon), I will stay with that classification to help alleviate my confusion.  The ship is a predecessor to the Constellation and serves as a deep space explorer.

Resin Kit Review: Cozmo Heavy Industries 1:2500 Constellation Class

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

I'd like to jump back into looking at the resin kits that I have built.  The next one I want to review is a brand spanking new one from Cozmo Heavy Industries.  I say it is brand new because he just recently got done retooling a a new master.  he was forced to do this when his friendly dog decided to eat the last master.

I am speaking of his 1:2500 scale Constellation kit.

C.H.I.'s eBay Advertisement

Normally I would not have bought this kit.  I typically only build models to fill gaps in my collection with ships that I can't buy already built and painted, like Eaglemoss, Hallmark and Hot Wheels.  I follow Jay, who owns and operates C.H.I. over at his FaceBook page and was entertained by his buildup of this ship.  So, I figured I'd give it a go.

Resin Kit Review: Cozmo Heavy Industries 1:2500 Oberth Class

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

Rewrites: May 2016 & September 2018

Moving right along now with my resin kit reviews, I'd like to now focus on a two ship set from Cozmo Heavy Industries called the 1:2500 scale Oberth Support Vessels.

C.H.I.'s eBay Advertisement

This kit gives you enough parts to build two different ships.  One of them is the classic styled Oberth that we all know as the USS Grissom.  The other ship that you can build is a cargo hauler and Jay, the guy who owns and operates C.H.I., includes a hospital ship module.

Resin Kit Review: Cozmo Heavy Industries 1:2500 Condor Class

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

Thanks to the weather, I had a nice four day weekend and took some time from writing the reviews.  But it's time to get back to work, so let us jump back into it with a review of the Cozmo Heavy Industries 1:2500 scale Condor class.  This is another one of C.H.I.'s Romulan cargo haulers and although these types of ships are not my normal thing, this one looked kinda cool to me.

C.H.I.'s eBay Advertisement

This ship has never appeared on screen and is right out of the mind of Jay, who owns and operates C.H.I.  What really sold me on it, besides the sleek look for a cargo hauler was that it looks to be a TNG era ship.

Resin Kit Review: The Delta Quadrant 1/2500 Phobos-class Starship

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

Rewrites: May 2016 & May 2019

I recently finished working on my other The Delta Quadrant model, the 1:2500 Phobos Class and figured I'd do my next write-up on that ship.

The Delta Quadrant's Recommended Paint Scheme

Editor's Note: As of Novemeber 2015, Paramount served The Delta Quadrant a Cease & Desist order meaning that they could no longer sell any Star Trek kits.  You can read more about this at All Scale Trek in THIS THREAD.  This means that this model will gradually become even more harder to find as there will no longer be any restocks of the kit.

Resin Kit Review: Cozmo Heavy Industries 1:2500 Kestrel Class

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

Rewrites: December 2018

December 2018 Update: Cozmo Heavy Industries has not produced any kits in quite a while so this is a Real Throwback kind of review.  Jay, the guy who runs this garage kit manufacturer had some life events occur that has kept him away from the hobby.

Normally I don't go for certain types of ships in my collection.  I'm not really a cargo ship kind of guy, however you can't deny that Cozmo Heavy Industries does have some unique looking cargo ships.  Especially when you look at his non-human race line of vessels.  One such ship is his Romulan Kestrel Class cargo hauler.

C.H.I.'s eBay Advertisement

This ship was never seen on screen and is simply one of those interesting designs that has come from Jay's (the guy who owns and operates C.H.I.) mind.

Resin Kit Review: Cozmo Heavy Industries 1:2500 Constitution Class Phase II Prototype

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

My next resin kit  review is going to cover a rather rare kit, the 1:2500 scale Constitution Class Phase II Prototype from Cozmo Heavy Industries.

C.H.I.'s eBay Advertisement

This kit is of one of the proposed designs for the Enterprise had we seen a Star Trek: Phase II TV series.  I believe that it was also reconsidered when they started thinking about what sort of ship design to use for Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Resin Kit Review: The Delta Quadrant 1/2500 Bonaventure-Class Cruiser

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

Rewrites: April 2016 & February 2019

I've been jumping back and forth between two different manufacturers lately in regards to these resin kit reviews.  I decided to be different for this one and look at The Delta Quadrant's 1:2500 scale Bonaventure Class starship.

The Delta Quadrant's Recommended Paint Scheme

Per Memory Alpha and Beta, "The NCC-1000 was a Federation Starfleet starship in service in the late-22nd or 23rd centuries, she was a member of the Bonaventure-class, a newly advanced class of starship that followed on from the success of the NX-class."

Resin Kit Review: Resin Modeler 1:1400 Suliban Stealth Cruiser

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

Rewrites: April 2016 & July 2020

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

My next resin kit review will be focused on the 1:1400 scale Suliban Stealth Cruiser that is produced by Resin Modeller.

Resin Modeller's Recommended Paint Scheme

This ship appeared in the Season 1 finale episode of Star Trek: Enterprise called "Shockwave".

Resin Kit Review: Resin Modeler 1:1400 Klingon Hunting Vessel (Gorath's ship)

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

[Editor's Note (April 2016): This will mark my second re-write of this article.  Consider this the REFIT version of the original article.]

For this next review, I'd like to focus on a small and simple little kit from Resin Modeller.  He produced a 1:1400 scale version of the Klingon Hunting Vessel that we saw in Star Trek: Enterprise.

Resin Modeller's Recommended Paint Scheme

This ship was used to help capture Captain Archer and take him back to the Klingon home world to face criminal charges.  As of now, there isn't a lot of other information on the ship other than what we saw in the TV series.

Resin Kit Review: Cozmo Heavy Industries 1:2500 Federation Class

NOTE:  You can click on most pictures to get a larger view of them.

Rewrites: April 2016 & July 2018

The next kit I'd like us to take a close look at is a 1:2500 scale Federation Class ship made by Cozmo Heavy Industries.

C.H.I.'s eBay Advertisement

Ever since the days of the FASA games, this style of ship has been a favorite of mine.  I even did a very basic kitbash from a 1:2500 AMT kit to make a facsimile of this ship.

Sadly, mine was a bit out of proportion.

The Federation Class Dreadnought was just that.  It was a much bigger ship than it's counterparts of the time and wielded much more firepower.

Resin Kit Review: Cozmo Heavy Industries 1:2500 Peregrine Class (Non-Canon) Starship

This time round for my Resin Kit Review series, we're going to take a closer look at the 1:2500 Peregrine Class kit from Cozmo Heavy Industries.
