"We look for things.  Things we need.  Things that make us go." Or, in my case, "Things to collect."  And here we are, at issue, #175, rounding the corner to that long awaited final Issue #180.  In this issue, we are looking at the Mondor, a Pakled Transport Vessel.

We first get to see this starship in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode called "Samaritan Snare".

Per Memory Alpha and Beta, "The Mondor was a Pakled transport that was in service in the mid-24th century.  The ship had been heavily modified with various systems stolen from other more advanced civilizations including Romulan shields, Jarada and Klingon systems. It also had a replicator.  In 2365, the Mondor was under the command of Captain Grebnedlog. The ship's chief engineer was Reginod."

While being just a simple freighter, the Pakled ship has a lot to take in when looked at closely.

The sculpt ad molding of the model gives us TONS of little details to take in and admire across the entire ship.  Rather than having a smooth hull, the ship is covered from bow to stern by all sorts of little raised details.  The crisp rendering gives you an idea of just how much the Mondor's crew "borrowed" from other races and then implemented into their vessel.

And as if to add icing onto an otherwise delicious cake, Eaglemoss also included some nice greebles in the form of the canisters, or tanks that stick out from the side of the ship.

Not only has Eaglemoss gifted us with those two canister greebles but if you flip the model over, you will find some sort of suction cup looking, dish like piece sticking out from the bottom of the ship as well.  I believe that it is some sort of sub-space array.  My only complaint about this piece is that it doesn't bear the same weathered appearance as the rest of the ship.  I suppose we could pretend that it was a recent addition to the ship, and therefore hasn't had enough time to become dirty.

Speaking of weathering, the paint work on this model is down right nice, with Eaglemoss giving the entire model (except the afore mentioned dish) a dirty, blotchy weathering look.  The rear of the ship, where the engines presumable are, is a grey like color to allow it to stand out more.  The rest of ship bears some red stripes and rust colored panel areas that give some nice contrast across the entire model.

Some light blue paint has been used along the bottom of the ship, as well as on the nose, and this just further adds some beautiful contrast to the worn out paint scheme used everywhere else on the model.

One small issue that I found on my model, when it comes to the paint work, is in the engineering area of the ship.  It seems that Eaglemoss got a little overzealous with its application of dirt paint, and the engine exhausts show some signs of overspray back there.

I wasn't expecting much from a model simply called "Mondor" by Eaglemoss, but in the end, other than the two tiny little paint issues that I mentioned, I ended up being very surprised with how pleased I was with the model.

At the time of this article's writing (January 30th, 2021), I was able to find this model available through both eBay as well as Eaglemoss' US based Webstore for $25.  The price included shipping on eBay while on Eaglemoss, you will have to pay for shipping unless you buy several models from them at the same time.  Either way though, $25 is not a bad price for what you get this time around.  As I said, I was pleasantly surprised by this model and really liked what was presented to us.  For an alien vessel, we get a rather interesting looking model to add to our fleet of starships.

As always, I hope you found this article useful and informative.  If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please feel free to comment below.

So for now, "Live long and prosper!!!"
